Obituary for Marylee Staedler

Marylee  Staedler
Marylee Staedler of Butte, Montana joined her husband, parents and siblings in Heaven on May 31, 2018, she valiantly waged a 3-year battle with Alzheimer’s. Born on July 18, 1926 in Vail, Iowa, on the Albert brother’s farm; Marylee was the daughter of Leland D. and Myrtle Albert.

When she was very young, the family heard of opportunities which were available in the Dixon area. The entire family moved just east of Dixon where they farmed and ranched. During winters Lee logged for the Salish Kootenai tribe. After a few years they moved to Missoula where Marylee attended grade school and in 1945 graduated from Missoula County High School. Following graduation, she began work as a secretary for the Veteran’s Affairs Office where she worked until her retirement. In 1948 she met Fred Staedler Sr., who was retired from a 28-year career with the Army and Air Force; the were married in 1951 in Missoula. Marylee and Fred spent time living in Altamont Springs, Florida and Florence and Anaconda, Montana. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and puzzles.

Marylee is survived by her son Fred (Sherry) Staedler Jr. of Anaconda, step-daughter Donna (George) Boileau of Missoula, and step-son J. Michael Springmann of Washington D.C.; her grandchildren Kevin (Ute), Michael, and Timothy Boileau, Leslie (Jeff) Weldon, Nathan Staedler and Amanda Springmann; her great-grandchildren Katelyn, Helen, and Nikolus. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Marylee was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister May Albert Bouquet, brothers Robert “Bunny”, David, and Alfred Albert, and her husband’s former wife, Helen Kunz.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, 11:00A.M. at Sunset Funeral Home, 7405 Mullan Road, Missoula, followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held in the Sunset Community Room following the interment.

Donations in Marylee’s honor can be made to a military organization of the donor’s choice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
