Obituary for Alma Louise Nemeth

Alma Louise Jewett Nemeth, 94, passed away on Friday June 10, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, Montana. Alma was born May 28, 1922 in Rochester Township, Lorain County, Ohio. She was the second of eight children born to John Arthur Jewett and Abby Grace Parker Jewett. Alma grew up on the family farm in Wellington Township with three sisters: Ersa, Theda, and Wilda and four brothers: Lawrence, Lewis, Walter and Wendell. Alma attended school in Brighton, Ohio, where she graduated from high school in 1940. Alma attended the Elyria Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Elyria, Ohio and graduated with her Registered Nursing degree Sept. 9, 1943.
Alma and her husband William George “Bill” Nemeth were married on Sept. 12, 1943 in Elyria. Their first son, John was born in Wyandotte, Mich. In Berea, Ohio their next three sons were born: Jim and twins Chris and Craig.
Alma worked at the Elyria Memorial Hospital in several positions until she retired from nursing in 1978. Alma and Bill moved to Missoula, Montana in the fall of 1978 to live closer to all their sons, who lived in Montana and Oregon at the time. They purchased a home in the South Hills area of Missoula. Bill passed away Feb. 11, 1983. Alma continued to live in their home in Missoula until May, 2006, when she moved to The Village Retirement Center. She lived there for about two years until she became a resident of The Village Nursing Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ersa and Wilda, brothers, Lawrence, Lewis and Wendell, husband William, and son Jim. She is survived by three sons, John (Pearl) of Battleground, Wash., Chris (Bobbie) of Dillon, Mont., and Craig (Marimae) of Salmon, Idaho and daughter-in-law Jean Nemeth of Plains, Mont. Grandchildren include Scott (Tanzie) Nemeth; Jennifer (Doug) Morse, Jake (Brooke) Nash; Sarah Nemeth; and Matthew, (Kendra) Nemeth. Great grandchildren include Hannah and Parker Morse; Siane, Ryelin, and McKayden Nash; and Merrick Nemeth.
Alma will be buried next to her husband, Bill, in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Friday June 17, 2016, following a service at the Lolo Community Church at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch or Lolo Community Church.
