Charlene C. Bauer, 76, of Missoula, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 of natural causes.
She was born on May 21, 1940 to Harold W. and Olena J. Day. As a young girl, she grew up in the
Rattlesnake Valley attending Lincoln Grade School and Missoula County High School.
Charlene belonged to the Ground Observer Corps as a volunteer in high school. As time went on,
Charlene joined a bowling league and that soon became one of her passions, along with becoming one
of the best alteration/seamstresses in Missoula. She could take apart and alter any clothing, put it back
together and it would look better than the manufacturer.
On December 19, 1959, she married Harry L. Bauer in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and they made their home in
Missoula, surrounding themselves with the many good friends and neighbors they had come to know
throughout the years. They had 2 children together, Sally Ann Bauer and William Brian Bauer.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She played a very big role in her 2 granddaughters’
lives, and we can thank her for teaching them many things along the way. There wasn't a time that she
would not let them swim in the pool, play volleyball with them, sew with her sewing machines, eat
donuts and other goodies and yes, then she would send them home. Stephanie Ann and Kaylee Marie
were her pride and joy.
Survivors include her daughter Sally (Scott) Peryam, son William (Christina) Bauer, granddaughters;
Stephanie (Aaron) Lenk and Kaylee Bauer, twin sister Charlotte Close, brother Harold (Lola) Day, her
very special grand-dogs Marge and Koda that will miss her snacks when they come to visit. She will be
forever in our thoughts and hearts.
Preceding her in death, her husband Harry (Big Hair) Bauer and sister Shirley Montanye.
A Celebration of Charlene’s life will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 7405 Mullan Road, Wednesday March 15th at 3:00 PM.
