David A. Koch

June 8, 1944 — September 20, 2022

David A. Koch died peacefully in his sleep at beloved home, “The Christmas House” on September 20, 2022. He was born June 8, 1944, in Hamilton, MT to John and Rose Koch. Dave was the third child of five. He grew up in North Dakota and moved to Missoula in 1965. On May 9, 1987,

Dave married his best friend, soulmate and love of his life Ricki. He was very gifted and enjoyed woodworking and retired as a sheet-metal journeyman.

Dave also enjoyed the outdoors, music and worldwide traveling with his wife Ricki (The Toy Lady). Dave and Ricki were best known for their yearly Christmas display on Washburn for nearly 23 years.

Dave was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ricki, parents John and Rose, and his four siblings: MaryAnn Mastel, Ted, Marvin and Darold.

Dave is survived by his children: Bryan (Jamie), Shannon (David), Jim (Marcia), Tara, Holly (Kevin), and Shari (Casey),

grandchildren: Tawny (Shanley), Bryce, Candace (Paul), Nicholas (Megan), Brett (Helena), Laura, Kory, Kira (Rick), Shanna (Ty), Cody (Jessa), Anthony, and Ceaton,

great grandchildren; Payton, Micah, Kynric, Khloe, Maddy, Kyrstin, Kyra, Klaire, June, Presley, Paisley, Anderson, Karson, Braedyn, Everly, Sawyer, Owen, Calan, Huxley, and one on the way.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to his hospice nurse Jody McFarland for her care and her kindness. A heartfelt thank you to a dear, faithful friend and neighbor Karen Fairclough for all her years of friendship, love, and support. Last but not least to Missoula herself. She has supported Dave and Ricki every year for 23 years of lights and Christmas joy. Dave’s love for Ricki is what drove his love for Christmas lights for Missoula. Thank you!

Now, Dave and Ricki are dancing together under Heaven’s Christmas lights.
