Dorothy Lucile Schmidt Wittig, 83, passed away at home on May 18, 2018.
She was born July 8, 1934 in Raleigh, ND to Walter and Allie Schmidt. The family moved to Bismarck in 1943. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1953.
Dorothy married Willis (Bill) Wittig in 1957. She worked at Woolworth's for 7 yrs. She was a longtime member of the Salvation Army in Bismarck and Missoula where she and Bill moved their family in 1968 for a better job in the plywood mills.
She became a homemaker, cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, ran a daycare and was always very involved in all her churches. Dorothy was always a busy woman but always had time for her family.
In 1977 they moved to Huson, MT where they became members of the Frenchtown Community Church where she spent 20+ years as a Sunday school teacher and became known as Grandma Dorothy to many kids.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved to travel and loved God, life and all her family and friends. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her infant son, James Anthony, her parents, sister, Marjory Schmidt, and grandson, Lucas Ryan Rainforth.
Survivors include her husband, Bill, three children; Renee (Richard) Gist, Joe Wittig, Cindy (Terry) Rainforth, brother, Albon Schmidt, sister, Amelia Caussyn, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Frenchtown Community Church, July 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
