Gene Edward Winsor

Gene Edward Winsor, 83, of Frenchtown, MT, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 at his residence.

Gene was born December 21, 1938 in Belfry, Montana to Florence and James Winsor. Following his graduation Gene enlisted in the Army where he honorably served.

On New Years Eve in 1965 Gene met the former Sandra Cummins, and in May of that same year they were married. To their union two children were born, Jim and Debbie. Gene and Sandy made their home in Frenchtown where Gene worked for the Frenchtown Mill for more than 40 years. Gene was very involved in his children’s lives, coaching little league and teaching them how to have a sense of humor, like him.

Gene was a long-time member of the Valley of Christ Lutheran Church in Frenchtown and a devoted Christian. He enjoyed playing guitar, golfing, and sports in general. Gene had a large personality and could talk to anyone; he never met a stranger. His greatest joy in his life was his family, he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Left to cherish Gene’s memory are his devoted wife of 57 years Sandy Winsor; beloved children and their spouses: Jim and Sara Winsor and Debbie and Charles Rogers; cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Brody Winsor, Elena Winsor, Brittany (Michael) Watts, Jordan Rogers, Mckenzie and Reyden Watts; dear sister Janice Sherlock; as well as a host of brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Florence and James Winsor.

A memorial service with honors will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 7405 Mullan Road, Missoula, MT, 59808.
