MISSOULA ~ Jack Edmund Buchanan Jr., 66, of Missoula, passed away on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 at St. Patrick Hospital, surrounded by family and friends, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Jack was born May 1st, 1958, in Lakewood, Ohio to Marilyn and Jack Buchanan. He grew up playing football, baseball, and enjoyed many sports. He went to the Episcopal Academy, then Lexington High School before studying English at Villanova University. Jack called many places home over his life, including Berea, Ohio; Bryn Mawr and Villanova, Pennsylvania; Lighthouse Point, Florida; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Lexington, Arlington, and Yarmouth, Massachusetts; and Missoula, Montana.
On October 26th, 2019, he married his best friend and the love of his life Karla Buchanan in Las Vegas. They lived together in Missoula enjoying the company of their friends and children. Jack was a skilled people manager and a talented salesman, working as both throughout his career. He was always able to see the best in others and never stopped improving himself.
Jack was an avid golfer and Red Sox fan. He loved music, math, reading, writing, cooking, barbecuing, and spending time with his wife. He could fill a room with his booming laugh and brought joy to everyone who heard it. He loved to travel, particularly with his close friend Scott Johnson, including their annual golf retreat.
Jack was a devoted husband, a caring father, and a man that loved with his whole heart. He had many great friends and would make more everywhere he went.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Jack is survived by his wife Karla Buchanan, stepmom Georgette Buchanan, brother Jeff Buchanan and partner Marilee Wood, brother Tim Buchanan and wife Jayne, sister Traci Buchanan, stepsister Peggy Butts and husband Gary, son Christopher Buchanan and wife Ayla, daughter Cori Buchanan and partner Miles Anders, daughter Danielle McArdle and husband Taylor, son Brendan Buchanan and partner Jhanati Rajesh, stepson Andrew Rosenbaum, wife Lindsey and their son Kameryn Richards, stepson Austin Rosenbaum and wife Jasmine, stepdaughter Kaylee Rosenbaum, stepson Kristopher Rosenbaum and partner Aryana Ridlon, stepson Tyler Bennett, stepdaughter Whitney Bennett, and too many friends to mention.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 8th, 2025, at 4 PM at Crosspoint Community Church, led by Pastor Bruce Speer, with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with funeral expenses are greatly appreciated.
