MISSOULA ~ John Lewis Buelow, 68, of Missoula, passed away on Sunday, February 6th, 2022 at St. Patrick Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
John was born on November 19, 1953 in Omak, WA to Leonard W. and Nora Jean Buelow. The Buelow family had a farm and orchard in Omak and John had many fond memories of his childhood there. The family later moved to Missoula, where they settled on 5th Street. John attended Hellgate High School and later went on to become a certified welder. John worked for a time in the oil fields of Wyoming before returning to Missoula. Once back, he worked in the lumber industry, as a truck driver, and in several other odd jobs. John had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing all over western Montana. His fondest memories, however, were always those of hunting and fishing with his father and his brothers when they were kids.
John had a strong faith that was fueled by his love of both God’s word and of his church family. He enjoyed many sweet moments in the last weeks of his life with the men of his church and spent his last remaining energy telling his doctors and nurses about his God and why he was ready to transition into the next life.
John loved his siblings very much and spent a good portion of his later years doing his best to care for them. John is survived by his brother, Dale Buelow; his sister, Nancy; and his children, Lavinia and Toni. John was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leonard; and his sister, Annette.
A memorial service for John will be held on Saturday, February 26th at 11:00 AM at The Journey Christian Fellowship, 345 South 5th St. West in Missoula. All who knew John are welcome to attend.
Arrangements are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Missoula.
