Klaus H. Schuhbauer, 77, of Missoula, passed away Saturday October 14, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. He passed of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born in Furth, Germany, on February 16, 1940 to Heinrich and Anna Schuhbauer. He grew up exploring the Black Forest in Germany and went to apprentice in Munich at age 14 to become a chef. After training, he began his career in Munich and from there traveled the world on a Norwegian cruise line for three years, eventually finding home in Montana.
He found his “better half” Rozann in Billings, MT and they married in 1974. The couple moved to Missoula in 1986 with their three children where he was the executive chef of the Doubletree Edgewater for 16 years. His retirement followed where he continued to serve German Brats and potato salad at Bayern Brewing for 9 years. He then officially retired where he then enjoyed his family, grandchildren, fishing, gardening, and coffee with his buddies in Lolo.
He is survived by his wife Rozann, his children; Gretchen (Victor) Lombardo, Nicklaus, and Loni (Brian) Walker, grandchildren Lyndi, Miles, Teagan and Emlynn; his sister Karin and brother Heinz.
A memorial service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens Wednesday October 18, at 10 am open to all who wish to attend. Condolences for the family may be left at www.sunsetfuneralhomecemetery.com
