Our mom, Marian Wood Charvat, passed away peacefully in her sleep, July 21, 2022 at the Rosetta House in Missoula.
Marian was born in Logan, Utah on May 13, 1938 to Milton and Zelda Wood. She was number 13 of 15 children. All her siblings except, Avon Holmes, her youngest sister have predeceased her.
Mom’s legacy consists of five children; Dianna Johnson, Darla Burnham, Dean Burnham, Dawn Charvat, Daren Charvat, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Marian worked at Beach Transportation until she was 82, cleaning buses. It was important to her that the buses were kept in tip top shape. She also drove bus for the schools and the Griz games, of which she told many stories. Mom’s friends at Beach kept her busy. A special thanks to Carlin, who stood by her side when her memory wouldn’t allow her to do her job any longer.
Mom’s faith, as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, carried her through many years of trials. Thanks to the many brothers and sisters for staying by her side and to the sisters of the Relief Society for putting up with her spunky attitude and sense of humor. Mom’s face lit up every time her special friends, the Byington’s, would come to her home to visit!
Marian loved to travel and took many vacations to camp or visit the lake. She enjoyed spending time at Bonner Park, listening to the bands, or just gathering with her life-long friends. She enjoyed friendships that began in grade school and continued the rest of her life.
Going for a car ride would end up with mom saying, “let’s go eat, but let’s go where we can sit down, and they can wait on us!”
Mom loved to cook and bake for her family, missionaries, gatherings, and parties. She especially like to make her famous fudge. Her recipe has been shared with numerous family and friends. She loved to stay busy!
A special thanks to the staff at the Rosetta House for caring and loving on our mom. She never lost her sense of humor and let everyone know exactly what she though, even through the terrible disease of Alzheimer’s.
Mom, you will be missed and thank you for being our mom!!
Viewing will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 9:30 am with service beginning at 10:30 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Bancroft.
