Marie Ward (Loewen)

MISSOULA ~ Marie L. Ward 89, of Missoula, Montana, passed away peacefully of natural causes as she slept Sunday August 22, 2021 at home.

Marie was born in Hazen North Dakota to Henry and Martha Loewen. She was one of thirteen children. The family lived in Hazen until Marie was six years old. They moved to Missoula. It was in Missoula that Marie met and married Glenn T. Ward in 1953. Marie and Glenn raised four children, Steven, Michele Iverson (Kirk), Laurie Acevedo (Gary) and Simeon.

Marie worked for Buttereys in Trempers for ten years then she spent 25 years working for Safeway on Brooks in Missoula. She was active in Grace United Methodist Church giving her time, regardless of time of year to church projects and activities. Marie cheerfully volunteered her time and effort to help others in need. She was also involved in the Walk to Emmaus.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, all eight of her brothers; Victor, Ervin, Lawrence, George, Ray, Frank, Darol and Lloyd; three of her sisters, Luella, Ester and Clara as well as her beloved husband of 45 years, Glenn Ward.

She is survived by her sister Violet; her children; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Interment is at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7405 Mullen Road, Missoula, Montana at 2:00 P.M. Friday August 27, 2021.

A Memorial Service Celebrating Marie’s life will be at Grace United Methodist Church Saturday at 2:00 P.M. August 28, 2021.
