Marilyn Holgate, 80, life long resident of Missoula, MT, passed away, August 1, 2022. Marilyn was born to Ranae Bench Harris and Lucky Jack Harris, July 2, 1942, in Missoula, MT. Marilyn lived in Missoula her entire life and graduated from Missoula County High School. At age 8, she began ballet and tap and loved it from then on. Marilyn danced as a teenager with two young men that went on to become a world known choreographer, Michael Sumin.
Marilyn worked for the Dept. of Agriculture for many years and received many accolades for her work. Marilyn loved Christmas and had many nativities from many different places all over the world. She would buy one almost everywhere she traveled. Her house beautifully decorated during the Christmas.
Marilyn was a member of the Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints and held many callings over her life time of membership. Her favorite was being a chorister for Sacrament Meeting and Primary, with the children. She worked at the Bishops' Store House, where she met Sherm Holgate, her partner for eternity. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple and were married for 18 years, until Sherm's death.
Marilyn loved animals, especially cats and loved the work of Animeals.
Marilyn is survived by her brother, Alan Harris, his wife Becky and nephews, Justin and Jason. We cannot leave out her beloved cat, Grayson.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother, Ranae Harris, father, Jack Harris, Aunt Lois Bartlett and Aunt Fran Harris.
Viewing will be held, August 13, 2022; 10:00 am, Services will begin, August 13, 11:00 am both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints, South Avenue, Missoula, MT.
