MISSOULA ~ On the sunny evening of September 19th 2024 with a gentle touch from the hand of God, surrounded by family, Marlene Davis left this earth and ascended to the heavens.
Marlene was born August 10th 1937 to Rudolph “Rudy” Schmautz and Lydia Schmautz, in Missoula Montana. Marlene grew up in Missoula, graduated from Missoula County High School, met and married her husband Glenn Davis, and started her family there.
Marlene and family had several adventures across the county, but her favorite was the time spent at her mountain cabin fishing her favorite stream. In the mid 1970’s Glenn and Marlene purchased the world-famous Oxford Bar and Café in Missoula. Over their ownership Marlene managed, revamped and brought new life to the Café. The two eventually sold the Ox and purchased the T & C Lounge where she assisted in management.
Eventually Glenn and Marlene retired and moved to Arizona. Their residency there did not last long. The call of Montana brought them back home where the two lived out their lives.
Marlene is survived by, sister Glenda Armstrong, daughter Debra Farnsworth, son Greg Davis(Rita), granddaughters Tiffany Scott, Sidney Davis, grandson Tyler Davis, great grandson Jackson Scott, great granddaughter Bella Scott.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Davis, father Rudy Schmautz, mother Lydia Schmautz, sister Marie Roberts, brother Larry Schmautz, and son-in-law Jeff Farnsworth.
The family will be holding a private service where her ashes will be scattered in the mountains she loved. In lieu of flowers please plant a tree in her name.
Marlene will always be missed, but forever be in our hearts.
Death is not putting out the light; it is the extinguishing the lamp because the dawn has come. –Anonymous
