Nancy Ellen Edwards

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Ellen Edwards, 84, who passed away at her home in Missoula on Thursday, July 21, 2016, with family by her side.

Nancy was born March 28, 1932, to Izzy and Fred Ramer in Missoula and was the eldest of three children. After graduation in 1950, she married the true love of her life, Robert E Edwards, also a lifetime resident of Missoula. Together they had four children.

She and Bob built their life together in the farming and ranching business, which proved to be challenging and rewarding for them both. She took pride in being the rancher's wife and partner. She always presented with class and dignity.

She took pride and precision in all that she did. She prepared made-from-scratch meals and deserts for all the ranch hands, and her reputation would draw others to make visits during meals or stop in for coffee knowing all too well that a delicious desert would be available.

Her talent for gardening was well known. She would spend days, weeks and months preparing the best frozen and canned vegetables and fruits that could not be found anywhere else. She loved digging in the dirt and growing flowers. Roses were her passion and it showed. She would say, "You take care of them and they will reward you." She was a wonderful seamstress and would create some of the best outfits that could be found anywhere. She was very involved and a member of the local home demonstration group for years and a charter member of the local Rainbow.

She enjoyed the trips and travels in the motor home including trips to Michigan. She loved her cat Josie, who gave her companionship and comfort. She enjoyed spending time with longtime friends and visiting with family.

Nancy is survived by her son, Hal Edwards (wife Kim Edwards) of East Missoula; daughter, Pamela Edwards Carter (husband Charles Carter) of Edwardsburg, Michigan; sister, Anita Flint (Bill) of Whitefish; brother, Ronald Ramer (Gay), of Missoula; 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert E. Edwards; son, Kevin G. Edwards; and daughter, Laurel L. Bateman.

Family is requesting that family and friends join them to “celebrate” her life at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Sunset Funeral Home with a reception to follow.
