Obituary for Peyton Dewitt "Pet" Duncan, Jr

Peyton Dewitt Duncan, Jr., "Pat", 92, of Missoula, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Village Health Care Center, of natural causes with his two daughters by his side.

He was born November 29, 1924, in Havre, to Peyton and Mellicent Duncan. He enjoyed his years on the homestead his Dad had built in Harlem, and was very proud of his roots. He left high school his senior year to join the Navy during World War II. Some of his favorite stories he loved to share were from his service on Tarawa.

After the war ended Pat met the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Foley and they were married December 22, 1946. They had two daughters, Patty and Peggy. Pat was a successful businessman starting and operating Northwest Collectors in Missoula in 1959 until 2003.

Pat was a very active community member becoming President of Jaycees, Lions and the National Collectors Association. He had many fun ideas for fundraisers for the Clubs like donkey races!

Pat loved raising his Arabians and Appaloosa horses with new foals every spring. One of his other hobbies was designing and building many homes in Missoula.

He was a golf fanatic, and he and the family enjoyed skiing, boating on Flathead Lake and Grizzly football together.

Dorothy preceded him in death at the age of 42 from breast cancer. Pat was also preceded in death by his second wife, Bonnie Duncan. They spent many winters together traveling to Arizona, Hawaii and Florida.

Pat is survived by his two daughters Patty (Geoffrey) Harp, Missoula and Peggy (Jack) Deeds, Littleton, Colorado, his brother, Pete (Margaret) Duncan, Miles City, three grandkids, Genevieve (Paul) Kulaski, Duncan (Julie) Harp, and Thomas Steffes plus five great-grandkids, also stepdaughter Sandy (Steve) Hackler and three stepsons. He also has several nieces and nephews.

Pat's earthly body has been cremated according to his wishes and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Whenever we hear Dean Martin singing we will always think of you Dad!
