Raymond E. Anthony Sr., 85, passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at St. Patrick Hospital.
He was born Aug. 17, 1932, in Perry Co., Pennsylvania, to George and Mary Anthony. He worked on the family farm until he was 18. He then worked for the railroad for two and a half years.
On Jan. 12, 1953, he married Edna M. Foose, and left for basic training two days later. He served in Korea for almost 18 months.
In 1961 he moved his family to Missoula and started working at the Bonner Mill for the Anaconda Company. He continued to work at the mill when it was bought by Champion, until he retired.
He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, picking huckleberries and cutting firewood.
Survivors include sons Ray (Jan), Dennis (Laurel), daughters Mary, Bonnie, Cherie (Joe), eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings from Pennsylvania are: Jane, Ann, Carl, Bob and Wendy.
A viewing will be Wednesday, Jan. 10, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services are planned for Thursday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Alberton Community Church with a reception following at the church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m.
