The Missoula community lost a special lady, Ricki Louise Koch, who died at home, known as the “Christmas House”, on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Ricki was born the eldest child of four children to Emily and Robert Jacobson on July 12, 1944 in Bemidji, MN.
She lived her childhood years in Tenstrike, Blackduck, and Hibbing, Minnesota. When she came to Missoula, Montana as an adult, she found her “Home”, and never wanted to live anywhere else; although, she was fortunate to travel to many wonderful places through trips she earned working sales as the “Toy Lady” for House of Lloyd for over 30 years.
Ricki married her best friend and soul mate David Koch on May 9, 1987, and she was happiest with the life they made together. One of her proudest accomplishments besides her family was the Christmas display that she convinced Dave to do for the community for the past 23 years. Kids affectionately called her the “Candy Cane Lady”.
Survivors include her husband, David; children, James (Marcia), Tara (Stacey), Holly (Kevin), Shari (Casey), Bryan (Jamie) and Shannon (David); grandchildren, Laura (Shaun), Kory (Brittany), Kira (Kyle), Shanna (Ty), Cody (Jessa), Anthony “Tony”, Ceaton, Tawny (Shanely), Bryce, Candace, Nicholas, and Brett; siblings, Robert (Lynda), Ronald (Kari), Rebecca (Brian), Marvin (Jenny) and Darold (Lizzie); great-grandchildren, Braedyn, Mariah, Everly Louise, Sawyer, Micah, Kynric, Khloe, Madi, Krystin, Kyrah , and June Josephine; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and wonderful friends.
