William Charles Stanley (Bill), 92 of Missoula, passed away at home with family at his side on Saturday, August 27, 2022.
Bill was born on June 8, 1930, in Milwaukee Wisconsin to Frank and Mae Stanley and the family relocated to Duluth, Minnesota where he graduated from high school.
Bill was a decorated Korean War veteran serving as a Navy pilot and when his service to our country ended, he turned his attention to volunteering for many community youth organizations including the Boy Scouts, Job’s Daughters, and DeMolay. He was also a very active member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, Shriners, Elks and Moose assuming leadership roles and performing community service with nearly all of them.
Bill spent the majority of his career with the U.S. Weather Service in Missoula where he loved the challenge of resolving problems with equipment at Point 6 and battling the heavy winter snows to get there.He also loved spending time at Lake Mary Ronan and spent almost every summer weekend for decades there camping, fishing, and enjoying the company of his family and friends.He also loved his home improvement projects or at least starting them . . . he wasn’t quite as fond of getting them finished.
On December 23, 1992, Bill married the love of his life, Gini Norick in Las Vegas and the love between them only grew deeper as time went on.His happiest years were those he spent with Gini at his side.
Survivors include his wife Gini, Missoula; his daughter Holly and son Gregg, Phoenix, AZ; three grandsons Danny, Missoula; Brandon and Dalton, Phoenix, AZ; and his beloved dog Hank.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mae Stanley and by his stepson Mark Norick.
Bill’s memorial ceremony with military honors will take place at 1pm on Friday at the Western Montana Veterans Cemetery in Missoula. 1911 Tower Street Missoula Montana 59804
